On the day of 17 September, Giorgione of Castelfranco, a very excellent artist died of the plague in Venice at the age of 36 and he rests in peace"
Giorgione is the artist of this chalk sketch of the Madonna and Child found in 2017 by Library staff on the verso of folio CCXCVIII in the University of Sydney's copy of La commedia divina.
This sketch is found under death notice of Giorgione written in unknown hand in Latin in 1510.
