Commonplace book containing poetry by Ada Lovelace (then Byron), a sketch of Ada's cat by Lady Byron, various poems and extracts by others, and a copied letter from Hans Christian Anderson to "a friend in England". Among writers quoted are Alexander von Humboldt, and songwriter and author of a book on the violin, George Dubourg. The sketch of Ada's cat has the inscription: "The lovely Puff in a sweet slumber, June 3, 1825" with signature "AINB. Pinxit" [Lady Byron]. The former owner was J. H. Stamp, Ada Lovelace's childhood governess.
