Sydney Harbour Bridge construction

These photo albums from 1870 through to 1931 document much of the early construction work for the Sydney Harbour Bridge, from demolition of buildings to the construction of workshops, excavations, and other construction work.

J.J.C. Bradfield, who designed and oversaw the building of the Harbour Bridge was the first doctorate of science in engineering awarded by the University of Sydney in 1924 with his thesis 'The City and Suburban Electric Railways and the Sydney Harbour Bridge'
