Alice Ruth Walker was an Arts student, and graduated with First Class Honours and the University Medal in Philosophy in 1937. Walker worked in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Sydney from 1937, and was appointed as an Assistant Lecturer in 1941, and as a Lecturer in 1944. In 1954 she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer, and retired from the University in 1972.
