Artist’s statement: "This photo taken in Kanazawa captures the moment where the day transitions to evening and the calmness that descends when the working day draws to a close. The composition intentionally references Nighthawks by Hopper, and draws the viewer to contemplate the dynamic between the subjects who, though in close proximity, are engrossed in their individual activities."
