Reproduction in miniature of the poster design for the University War Memorial Fund by R.H. McGrath.
Raymond McGrath (1903-1977) graduated as an architect from the University of Sydney in 1926. He received both the Wentworth Travelling Fellow award in 1926 and the Australian Medallion in 1928. By the 1930s he had moved to Britain and in 1940 to Dublin as an architect for Public Works, eventually becoming the Principal Architect. The verse accompanying the poster design is by Basil Garstang, an occasional pseudonym used by John Le Gay Brereton. At this time he was the Professor of English Literature at the University of Sydney. Fisher Library Rare Books and Special Collections holds 2 copies, one in colour, the other in black and white, both autographed by Raymond H. McGrath. Both copies have inscription "Please make one alteration : in the first Stanza, the last two lines have been reversed. Basil Garstang. 29-10-24".
